Attracting and retaining quality teaching staff
The increasing shortage of quality candidates entering the teaching profession remains a national dilemma. Competitive remuneration packages, including the prioritization of staff housing, will strengthen our ability to attract and retain quality educators.
In response the Foundation has established the Educators' Fund. This Fund will be invested to provide an ongoing annuity income, which will enable College to supplement the remuneration packages of our staff and secure additional staff housing. Housing in Grahamstown is scarce, in high demand and consequently expensive, the Educators' Fund will allow the College to purchase suitable property for staff housing.
A robust Educators' Fund will enable the College to not only attract and retain quality teaching staff but in the long term ensure that tuition fees can be maintained at reasonable levels.
